Top 5 Takeaways from Salone del Mobile Milano 2026

From Dior to Gucci and Molteni&C, five standout installations define the week in Milan.

During Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, Milan transformed into a citywide stage of installations, exhibitions, and unexpected collaborations. From immersive environments to refined design statements, the week offered a layered look at how brands are rethinking space, material, and experience today. From our time on the ground, Whitewall highlights five standout presentations, from Dior’s Corolle collection with Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance to Gucci’s tapestry-driven Gucci Memoria, alongside Flexform’s indoor-outdoor explorations of living.

At Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, the Corolle lighting series—first introduced in 2019—returns with a refined dialogue between Dior and Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance. Set within Palazzo Landriani, the scenography evokes the lush gardens of Villa Les Rhumbs, offering a poetic nod to Christian Dior’s early world. Thai artists Korakot Aromdee and Vasana Saima contribute layered, hypnotic forms that lend the installation an ethereal, almost dreamlike quality.

At its center, the nomadic Corolle lamps translate the silhouette of Dior’s New Look into sculptural form—an interplay of volume, line, and light. Crafted through Murano glassmaking, each piece reflects a deep-rooted Venetian artisanal tradition while diffusing a soft, ambient glow. The installation unfolds as an immersive environment, where shadows echo across the space and light becomes a material in motion. Among the most enchanting presentations at Salone, it reinforces design as a living, breathing practice—fluidly moving between heritage and contemporary expression.

Flexform

Presented during Salone del Mobile 2026, one of the season’s most compelling design presentations, “The Private Lives of Objects” unfolded across Flexform’s two locations at Via della Moscova and Chiostro Sant’Angelo. Moving between indoor and outdoor environments, the installation traced the brand’s evolution—from Antonio Citterio, who shaped its identity, to collaborators like Patrick Norguet and Fumie Shibata, and newer voices including Sebastian Herkner and Monica Armani. Each contributes distinct impressions across sofas, surfaces, and materials. These objects quietly hold memory, from long dinners to slow mornings, shaping the rhythms of daily life.

Inside, the focus turned to domestic life, where comfort meets artisanal precision. Tailored upholstery, warm woods, and tactile finishes create a sense of continuity and permanence, while seating and storage adapt seamlessly to everyday living. Outdoors, the installation explored the dialogue between architecture and landscape. They offer both shelter and openness, designed with resilience and ease.

Gucci Memoria

Gucci’s Gucci Memoria unfolds as an immersive reflection on the House’s 105-year history, conceived by Demna within the Chiostri di San Simpliciano. Tracing its Florentine origins while looking forward, the exhibition is anchored by twelve tapestries that form a visual chronicle—each translating a defining moment into a richly layered tableau. From Guccio Gucci’s early days at The Savoy Hotel to the House’s first workshop, the narrative traces its formative beginnings. Iconic creations like the Jackie 1961 and Bamboo 1947 handbags mark its evolution, as shifting palettes, atmospheres, and compositions mythologize Gucci’s history.

In the larger cloister, a garden installation of seasonal blooms draws from the House’s enduring Flora motif, exploring cycles of memory and reinvention. The smaller cloister introduces a more playful note, with a custom vending machine dispensing canned beverages. Throughout, the archetypes of La Famiglia emerge—embodying distinct facets of the Gucci identity, where heritage and contemporary expression continue to intertwine.

Poliform

Poliform presents a multi-layered program during Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, anchored by the takeover of Palazzo Clerici. Within this historic setting, the brand presented its latest collections alongside the site-specific installation “Multitude,” creating a cohesive narrative that moves between interiors and the courtyard. The presentation outlines a complete vision of contemporary living, introducing new systems, a kitchen environment, and lighting, while extending into the city with the opening of its Milano flagship in Piazza della Scala.

In the courtyard, “Multitude,” curated by studioutte, unfolds as an abstract urban forest inspired by Milan’s hidden gardens. A rhythmic sequence of five-meter-high aluminum poles evokes a bamboo-like landscape, creating a contemplative and immersive environment. Pathways defined by lanterns and veils of smoke introduce a subtle ritualistic dimension, while new outdoor collections by Jean-Marie Massaud and Emmanuel Gallina appear in light tonalities, engaging with the surrounding architecture and reinforcing Poliform’s evolving connection to Milan.

Molteni&C

Molteni&C ambitiously began Salone del Mobile Milano 2026 with two distinct yet interconnected installations: “Responsive Nature” and “The Architect’s Relief” at Palazzo Molteni. Conceived by Elisa Ossino Studio, “Responsive Nature” unfolds as a site-specific environment composed of six botanical worlds, each enclosed within a unique architectural setting. Visitors move fluidly from one landscape to another—from moments shaped by human intervention to dense, immersive nature—encouraged to slow down, listen, and reconnect with the environment. The installation reflects the house’s ongoing commitment to materiality, craft, and a deeper dialogue with nature.

Meanwhile, “The Architect’s Relief” centers on the work of Michele De Lucchi in collaboration with Antonia Jannone Disegni di Architettura. Bringing together forty works, the exhibition explores over fifty years of research into materials and making, revealing a more intimate and meditative side of the practice. Presented across the top two floors, the space integrates art, lounges, and meeting areas, fostering cultural exchange while highlighting Italian creative voices.
