In mid August, Liaigre opened its new flagship in Paris on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in the Rive Droite. The space for the French design house is steps from the Elysée Palace and the Hôtel Bristol, surrounded by a neighborhood of art galleries and auction houses.
The historic building—previously occupied by the well-known antiques dealer, Steinitz—provides four levels over which Liaigre now showcases its full offerings. After an extensive renovation, a living space of furniture and interior architecture and design was created to feel like a home, complete with a lounge, dining room, library, office, bedroom, and dressing room. Inspired by its new Parisian address, Liaigre incorporated fine materials like bronze, cedar, and oak to complement the interiors.
The Decoration and Styling Department, complete with a material library and artist studio, awaits on the third floor for the discerning client. Customers will find an added dose of inspiration on Liaigre’s walls, thanks to an ongoing partnership with Galerie Lelong. On view for six month is a curated selection of work by Kiki Smith, Marc Desgrandchamps, Etel Adnan, Jannis Kounellis, Joan Miro, Richard Serra, Louise Bourgeois, Marc Ricourt, and more.
“For this first opening we want to give the possibility a Liaigre project,” said Frauke Meyer, the creative director of Liaigre. “We wanted to create an interior for someone and try to show the ambiance of Liaigre.”
