Vincent Van Duysen Sparks Digital Inspiration from Antwerp

By Eliza Jordan

April 2, 2020

Vincent Van Duysen is a creative that knows no barriers. We may be experiencing a global pandemic right now, but the digital world is abuzz, and Van Duysen’s updates are undoubtedly an inspiring contribution.

Recently, the creative director of Molteni&C unveiled to the world his latest project—a very personal one, Casa M, his new holiday home. Located in Melides, Portugal, the brutalist structure (which he referred to as a “vulnerable shelter” on Instagram) is a respite full of warm textures and materials like concrete, wood, and tile. The home is perched atop a dune, overlooking rice paddies and umbrella pine trees, and beckons the sun from a sand-filled courtyard.

For now, as he works from home in Antwerp, Belgium, he is left to dream of the striking building. Lucky for us, we are too, as his activity on Instagram is full of updates—from Casa M to Kanye and Kim Kardashian West’s home, which he had a hand in collaborating on with Axel Vervoordt, Claudio Silvestrin, and Wirtz International.

The past few times we’ve spoken with Van Duysen, the world was different, so we decided to check in on him and see how he’s doing.

“In a matter of weeks, all our lives have changed dramatically, and we are going through hard times—not only physically, but economically as well,” said Van Duysen. “I am now focusing on adapting our working organization to this new situation, and on my parents’ and my own well-being. I do hope the storm will soon be over and that it will make us stronger.”
