Atelier Swarovski has partnered with illustrious Parisian design collective Maison Martin Margiela to create a specialty collection inspired by the versatility of crystals, and their vast inspiration for creative potential. Aptly named the Crystalacite collection, the powerful accessories made their debut at the maisons Paris haute couture show in July.
Expectedly minimalist and very streamlined, the collection is made up of a pendent, a cuff, a ring, and a brooch, all made with a crystal fusion technique exclusive to the brand. The process involves bonding crystals with matte white resin prior to cutting, thereby making any gluing unnecessary. As a result, the stalactite shaped crystals emerge seamlessly from their settings in calculatedly organic shapes. While the cut of the stones is a seeming ode to the craggy, rough-hewn shape of raw stalactites, the studied asymmetry and startling versatility of the pieces (which were attached to clothing and footwear during the haute couture presentation) bear an avant-garde sensibility and clean-lined, minimalist feel that makes them distinctly Margiela.
