Angela Missoni hosted a reception for the Missoni pre-fall 2017 collection at the Missoni Boutique on Madison in New York last week. Immediately recognizable for its signature use of zig-zag patterns and mix-and-match style, the brand has put forth a collection full of vibrant colors and shapes too, with accessories to complement each look.
At the event on November 30, with music by Callie Reiff, guests like Ottavio Missoni Jr., Paloma Elsesser, and Samantha Angelo enjoyed the night and the new fashions. Pre-fall 2017, to be noted, is bringing a few new favorites: leg-hugging peep-toe booties in multiple lengths and colors, such as ankle and knee-high in black, grey, and a shimmering gold; flexible, matching striped pantsuits with elongated coat lengths and a shorter pant cuts; a variety of flare-leg pants, pleated and non-pleated, patterned and solid; fluffy seasonal sweaters; and an array of blazers and winter coats—all with unique double and single-button closures or waist ties, pockets, collars, and trim detailing.
We also fell in love with an amazingly colorful fur coat—one we’d like to believe borrowed from a similar color palette in Picasso’s Girl Before a Mirror (1932)—with pops of royal blue, brown, orange-red, maroon, sunny yellow, white, grey, black, and forest green reeling us in. And for the months leading up to fall, when the weather is warming up and winter is winding down, we swooned over pieces like a coordinating sequins top and pants, a floor-length sundress and its paired thin scarf with matching colors, and a sleeveless, round-neck dress with a print not quite zig-zag and not quite stripes to wear in the changing seasons.
