Armani Privé’s Punk Palette

No contributor

Designer Giorgio Armani achieved a delicate balance of elegance and punk in his latest fall/winter 2015-16 Armani Privé couture collection. The bold energy of the bright Schiaparelli pink evened out in softness in the form of blue-black velvet pairings and clean, rounded shoulders. While the colors stayed within the same range of pink, blues, black, and purples throughout the collection, the materials and the cuts mixed and matched with each other. We saw velvet and fringe, satin and jersey, and feathers paired with everything from crochets to sequins.

No silhouette was overdone – any garment with wide shoulders hit slimly at the bottom. Armani was experimental with the rebellion theme but careful not to let the rebellion overwhelm the woman. Each model had a spiky black pixie cut, daring pink lipstick and flats, sending the message that the clothes are for a bold, adventurous person who knows herself.
