Max Mara SS25

Basking in Artisanal Intelligence with Prada, Max Mara, and More at Milan Fashion Week

Brands such as Tod’s, Jil Sander, and Emporio Armani offered models revamped as contemporary superheroes on the Milan runway, traversing the globe with graceful humanity, and donning timeless garments of technical perfection.

Milan Fashion Week has us fully immersed in the open hearts and limitless imaginations of the most distinguished fashion houses. Here, Whitewall spotlights a mastery of craftsmanship with Prada, Jil Sander, Brunello Cucinelli, Emporio Armani, and more.

Jil Sander Offers a Patchwork of Human Emotions Alongside Photographer Greg Girard

The Jil Sander women’s and men’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection offered a patchwork of human emotions and perspectives within every transformational garment, rejoicing in the romantic, the solitary, and the savage. Within a hypnotic soundtrack of drum beats, synthesizers, and gentle lyrics, evocative visions from 1972-82 by Canadian photographer Greg Girard surged across a bevy of intimate looks. A poignant, neon-lit Vancouver, or a nostalgic portal into Hong Kong nightlife, washed across iridescent fabrics for day or evening resplendence. Models strutting the runway, fit with endless brown velvet curtains and virtuous floral carpeting, donned architectural, square-jacket suits of Italian or Japanese wool. Dreamlike georgette evening gowns, enhanced by crocheted and knitted flowers, implored dressing—and living—with an open heart and a limitless imagination.

Brunello Cucinelli Brings “Echoes of a Journey” for Spring/Summer 2025

“Echoes of a Journey” underpinned the spirited Brunello Cucinelli women’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, invoking the refreshing polish of the Riviera as well as the beguiling illusions of the desert landscape. Rooted in the masterful savoir-faire of the maison, a fresh outlook of forms and textures, paired with lush colorways and cherished accessories, paved the way for a seductive and stylish grand tour. Timeless matching sets were imbued with airiness, while skirts, blazers, and trousers brimmed with cool femininity. A wealth of red, navy, and Oxford blue met with earthy tobacco and dark browns, conjuring nautical adventure and animalistic desire. Embroidered and handcrafted handbags and shoes were the ideal accompaniments for traversing the globe with graceful humanity.

Max Mara Pays Homage to Hypatia with “Science and Magic”

“Science and Magic” pulsed through the Max Mara Spring/Summer 2025 catwalk, paying homage to revered philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and teacher Hypatia of fourth century Alexandria. The iconic heroine’s brilliant mind and skillful way with equations informed three-dimensional tailoring in trench coats, columnar knitted dresses, and skirts with body-hugging contours, as well as ever-so-pleasing square hinges on jacket shoulders. Elements of chaos theory fearlessly instilled gabardines and haut de gamme denims with linear moments, while crinkled silks rang out with startling glamor. Technical proficiency was seen in the perfect poplin shirt, or the wrapped shirt dress, with cosmic hues of silver nitrate, delphinium blue, and crystalline white had us fully absorbed in the elegant language of the universe.

Prada’s “Infinite Present” Transmits Freeform, Creative Power

The Prada Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear runway, titled “Infinite Present,” offered models revamped as contemporary superheroes, embracing countless selves and transmitting freeform, creative power to the world around them. With respect to Prada’s deep roots in duality and transcendence, a kaleidoscope of avante-garde looks—some accessorized with onyx masks— artfully unfolded. Echoing modern-day systems of logic and inevitable waves of anarchy, neon-hued windbreakers, geometric bandeaus, slouchy trousers, and metallic skirts carried power and protection. A provocative sleeveless dress with cascades of swinging, metal rings moved with the body’s every gesture, styled with a relaxed leather tote boosted nonchalantly by a chain belt. A violet button-up shirt gave off accomplished genius vibrations, and ribbed leggings in hues of pink sorbet and charcoal gray made ample room for ballet-inspired leaps into the ripples of destiny, courtesy of Prada.

Emporio Armani Aligns Past, Present, and Future for the Spring/Summer 2025 Catwalk

Past, present, and future cosmically aligned at Emporio Armani’s women’s Spring/Summer 2025 catwalk. “Future Perfect” radiated with an evolving, fierce allegiance to craftsmanship, dressing women in the dazzle of men’s suiting. The sonorous emblem of gender equality was explored with newfound jubilance, making way for sensual jackets, fluid trousers, and featherlight dresses replete with a mix of masculine and feminine magic and mystery. Iridescent sage, pink, and light gray cotton, linen, and matte finish silk garments emulated the heavenly skies above, while rich, organic hues and water-like patterns recalled earthly delights. Ballet flats and ankle boots were classics that will certainly carry us forward, as will charming micro bags and sensational wide-brimmed hats.

“Artisanal Intelligence” set the scene for a luxurious Tod’s Spring/Summer 2025 presentation, and each look glowed with historic, Made in Italy know-how. In collaboration with artist Lorenzo Quinn, the runway captivated guests with a sweeping sculpture of hands holding crossed leather bands, summoning a dedication to time-honored craftsmanship. Creative Director Mateo Tamburini blended his memorable journeys along the Mediterranean coast into sophisticated and practical pieces for the Tod’s goddess. Come hither trench coats in leather and cotton were offered in an array of lengths to fit the mood, while windbreakers in buoyant nappa leather or resin-coated cotton were superbly artistic and edgy. Immersive hues of sand, stone, and bronze whisked us away to the gracious seaside, while the purest shade of meadow green had us planning ahead for fragrant Italian picnics.
