BUY.THIS.NOW: Alexander McQueen Tote Bag

By Robyn Roberts

January 11, 2013

Not since the Jacqueline Onassis fashion exhibit in 2001 had New Yorkers and the Metropolitan Museum of Art seen such hype around a fashion icon as the late Alexander McQueen brought in 2011. Droves and droves of people from every fashion mecca waited in lines for up to four hours just to catch a quick glimpse of avant garde couture in a small room through a sea of bodies in the dead of summer. We’ve never known mass chaos to ever stop a New Yorker from indulging their senses in designer duds one way or another. Ogling over McQueen’s frocks dripping with scarlet colored sea shell glass and ostrich feathers was personally the equivalent to obsessing over Edward Hopper’s New York Interior— we’d always be able to admire, but could probably never afford to actually own anything of the late artists. And then a Christmas miracle happened. We’ll still have to admire Hopper from a security supervised distance, but owning a McQueen piece is now more possible than ever, thanks to the ending holidays and the brilliance of online shopping.

Bags and purses should be investment pieces, a beautiful and timeless accessory that can withstand almost every season and definitely a lifetime or three. We found this red leather Demanta Tote Bag on the Alexander McQueen site just yesterday and felt like the Internet was lying to us. The rich red color and subtle gold hardware make this classic, yet slightly modern bag timeless and one that can be carried alongside any ensemble for decades to come. We can most definitely picture Grace Kelly carting this around Morocco in her days, as well as Kate Moss leaving a London luncheon with the Demanta Tote on her arm.

The Alexander McQueen Red Demanta Toe Bag is currently on sale at the Alexander McQueen website.
