Last month, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) held their very first jewelry showcase event featuring 19 talented jewelers including Dannijo, Dean Harris, Gerard Yosca, Loree Rodkin, Mimi So, Nak Armstrong, Nicholas Varney, and Stephen Dweck.
Thanks to the initiative of CFDA award-winning jewelry designer Simon Alcantara and jewelry consultant and former Senior Accessories Editor of W Magazine Talya Cousins, this collective showcase gave visibility to the incredible work and new creations.

“The designers’ participation was very spontaneous, everyone who wished to present their work during this showcase were able to do it,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA’s CEO. “The most impactful programs at CFDA start with our members. We are thrilled that Simon, with Talya’s support, is working with us.”
A myriad of jewelry pieces were put on display, mixing colors, organic and geometric shapes, materials and precious stones. Pieces ranged from18k gold carved bracelets designed by Mish to Baroque and Post War-era inspired bracelets by Lulu Frost. There were delicate peacock feathers necklaces by Simon Alcantara and diamond-shaped phoenix feathers by Mimi So. We also loved the more rock ‘n’ roll pieces designed by Dannijo, inspired by the cinematographic movement of the film noir.

We asked if this first jewelry showcase was the beginning of a new story for the CFDA? Kolb cheerfully answered, “It has been very successful so far, we are looking forward to organizing new showcases alike.”
