Dior Celebrates Agility in Identity with Fall/Winter 2025

Dior's latest collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri centered fluidity in gender and identity through Elizabethan-era fashion, featuring lace garments with ruffles, corsets, and more.

Paris was electric last night with fashion week well underway, accentuated by the Fall/Winter 2025 presentation by Dior. Imagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the new line drew inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s novel, Orlando, exploring themes of transformation and gender fluidity through historic silhouettes, sumptuous fabrics, and Tudor period flair.

Garments embraced details reminiscent of those found in the Elizabethan era, symbolizing the evolving nature of identity, including detachable ruffled collars, Renaissance trousers, lace veils, and more. Tailored white shirts, a nod to former Dior designer Gianfranco Ferré, were paired with structured tailcoats, blending masculine and feminine elements, too.

Chiuri‘s new collection continued to pay homage to Dior’s rich heritage by revisiting other iconic designs, such as the J’adore Dior t-shirt from John Galliano‘s stint, while introducing modern interpretations that resonate with contemporary audiences—from lace coats to corset bralettes worn half-zipped over white button-down tops.

To further enhance the collection’s narrative of metamorphosis, the atmosphere was transformed into a dynamic landscape by Robert Wilson, featuring fiery meteorites and smoking icebergs, enhancing the collection’s narrative of metamorphosis. As models walked, fashion found itself back in the limelight as cultural and social discourse, blending historical references with modern aesthetics to celebrate the agility of identity.
