Edie Parker is shaking up our “it” bag wish-list with its Resort 2018 collection. “There was a strong focus this season on how to organically evolve the brand from evening clutches to more day bags, and specifically day-to-night bags,” said founder and designer Brett Heyman to us when asked about the new collection.
“I wanted to keep our core DNA by mixing our signature acrylic with softer materials, like leather, hair calf, shearling, and rabbit fur to create really standout pieces. We’re not going for the everyday black tote, but rather the cool black bag that’s going to stand out in a crowd and can be easily transitioned from work to cocktails.”
The collection is inspired by the Roman figure Sergius, Roman coins, lemon groves on the seaside of the Amalfi coast, sea creatures, and ultimate overindulgence. For materials, we’re seeing additions of leopard-print calf hair, shearling, and rabbit fur—all novel for the brand. Bright pops of blue, green, pink, and orange are seen contrasting with sandy shades and glittery offerings evoke an Italian charm. We also see surprising shapes like in the small Candy Bar clutch and the slightly bigger version with King Candy. Rectangular-oval and dome-shaped fur bags form the Parker and Leandra styles, which still include the brand’s iconic acrylic elements as an identifier.
