In February, Edie Parker celebrated the opening of its Madison Avenue location with a new boutique filled with art and inspiration, and a new double-sided bespoke option, too. Simultaneously, Marilyn Minter was celebrating the continued success of her exhibition “Pretty/Dirty”—on view at the Brooklyn Museum until May 7. The two female powerhouses have recently connected to debut a new limited-edition collection for the handbag designer, exclusively available at the museum’s gift shop and online.
“Marilyn Minter’s work explores feminism, fashion, and celebrity so it was an organic partnership” said designer Brett Heyman. “Partnering with an artist for such a milestone exhibition has been exciting, especially as it’s the first time we’ve worked with printing photographs directly onto acrylic.”
The two pearlescent acrylic styles—the Carol bag featuring Minter’s Wet Kiss and the Jean bag featuring Minter’s Glitter Mouth—are the first for Edie Parker to feature photographs, and interior mirrors etched with the Edie Parker logo and Minter’s signature. There are only 15 of each available, and additional made-to-order requests are available until April 9 at the museum’s shop and online.
To add, Minter said, “It’s always a pleasure to work on a project that raises money for an incredible institution like the Brooklyn Museum.”
