Elie Saab’s Warrior Queens

Elie Saab’s haute couture fall/winter 2017-18 collection transported us back to a time of kings and queens. The collection exuded elegance as well as confidence; a presence of female power and timeless emanated from each look.

Extravagant dresses fit for royalty appeared in velvet and lace, along with light draped fabrics. Peplum jackets and long lavish coats and crowning capes rested just on the shoulder. Deep plunging necklines added a touch of excitement when paired with demure long sleeves that covered the arms.

The collection consisted of pearly whites, blues, and pastel pinks as well as warm reds, greens, and blacks. A golden thread embellished nearly every garment, adding to the medieval theme. Delicately applied pearls, crystals, and hand-cut stones created a final monarchical tone.
