Galactic origins were reflected in metallics that shimmered with movement. The Alejandro Jodorowsky film embalmed individualist female personas that transferred into Ellery’s collection. Whether it was the alchemist’s silent assistant, a weapons manufacturer from the planet Mars, both the wife and lover to a millionaire art dealer, war toy maker of planet Saturn and a one of the prostitutes, these feminine images became sartorial inspiration. The imagery from the flick could be found in repeated instances of slashed sleeves, zig-zag stitching, and textured calico.
Ellery’s bold exploration reflects the parallels across art forms and the potency and strength of iconography in design creations.
