Flowers for Your Furs at Fendi

No contributor

Never one to disappoint the serious fashion spectators, Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi debuted his latest fall/winter 2014-15 collection inspired by travel, particularly up the Italian coasts, to much applause. Billie Holiday’s, Flowers For Your Furs, can be held responsible for a collection heavy on – you guessed it – fur.

Overcoats, dusters, bombers, military jackets, hoods, capes, and a drizzling of structured skirts and dresses were all fit for a train ride abroad. Abstract prints were like patchwork on both long and medium A-line skirts, and the finale piece was a massively roomy, floor sweeping tank dress primarily in black, with speckled dots of white, resembling a nighttime city scape from an airplane window miles above.

This collection is heavy on Italian influence, since the designer considers the most exquisite pieces to be born here. Black once again reigned supreme with pops of white, baby pink, and military green. Like a twist of citrus to an already lovely martini, Lagerfeld closes his collection debut with an addition to Fendi’s Little Monsters: a Bag Buddy of a mini Karl, bedecked completely in fur, of course.
