Gabriela Hearst Debuts a New Flagship within the Beverly Wilshire Hotel
Last week in Beverly Hills, luxury fashion designer Gabriela Hearst unveiled her inaugural West Coast flagship boutique within the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Within the gracious and sculptural space, a soulful collaboration unfolds between Hearst and acclaimed architect Norman Foster of Foster + Partners Design Studio, alongside inspired designer-makers Benji Gavron and Antoine Dumas of Gavron Dumas Studio.

Luminaries and friends of the pioneering maison, including Laura Dern, Maria Sharapova, Tallulah Willis, Dree Hemingway, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, St. Vincent, and Roda Ahmed gathered for a joyous cocktail party on Thursday, November 9 to celebrate. Guests explored the exquisite women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections, which made way for a lively celebration and DJ performance by Mike D.
“The immense gratitude to once again have the opportunity to work with a master like Norman Foster, a pioneer in sustainability, design and architecture that doesn’t compromise beauty, intelligence and timeless quality,” said Hearst. “The joy of seeing the remarkable talent of Antoine and Benji from Gavron Dumas Studio bloom to heights never imagined, successfully exploring their creativity with the values of reclaimed, local and craft. This is not a store, it’s a home for us, which was done by many hands that believe beauty is intrinsic to the soul but with the respect of our fellow human and mother nature. It is the true result of collaborative work. Of everybody having a say and being respected for their talent and knowhow. What you get is excellence, I couldn’t be more proud.”

Gabriela Hearst Collaborates with Foster + Partners, Gavron Dumas Studio, and DUSK on Display in Beverly Hills
Hearst’s Beverly Hills store marks the second successful collaboration with Foster following their partnership on the brand’s radiant London flagship. A bespoke furniture collection, titled Nomad, was meticulously created by Gavron and Dumas for the house’s latest locale and is displayed globally throughout Hearst’s boutiques in Chicago, New York, Paris, and South Korea. Echoing the brand’s robust commitment to sustainability and “honest luxury” (the designer ushered in the first carbon-neutral runway show for her Spring Summer 2020 collection), Gavron Dumas Studio produced elegant furniture and fixtures from sustainable and locally sourced Western Sycamore.

Artisans of Los Angeles-based furniture studio DUSK fashioned the awe-inspiring pieces, which evoke the warmth and beauty of Hearst’s beloved family ranch in Uruguay. Rose gold aluminum door handles, a contemporary revisioning of the ranch’s logo, are juxtaposed with a vaulted ceiling in Roman Clay, recalling the style of legendary Los Angeles-based architect Paul R. Williams, as well as tranquil, custom-made wall hangings and tactile rugs reminiscent of drawings by artist Eli Tamarkin. Alongside sumptuous merino wool and cashmere knitwear, visitors will encounter the brand’s chic footwear and accessories, as well as exclusive West Coast access to the brand’s iconic collection of coveted handbags.

“This project has been an incredible journey. It’s the culmination of our collaboration with Gabi, Foster + Partners and Dusk over the past twelve months,” explained Gavron and Dumas. “Starting from photos of Gabriela’s childhood home to the creation of this space was symbiotic from the start as Gabriela Hearst’s vision is aligned with our love for wood and craftsmanship. This store holds a special place in our hearts as it has cemented our desire to create Gavron Dumas Studio. As young artists, we want to thank Gabi for believing in us.”
