Giambattista Valli’s Cherries, Berries, and Bows

Giambattista Valli‘s fall/winter 2017 collection was black, white, and red—in high necks, puffed-up shoulders, cinched waists, and flouncy hems that hit just above the knee. Whether all-over in gathered, sheer, and ruffled chiffon or mixed in with polka dots, patterns, and horizontal stripes, the designer stuck with just three basic shades.

Dresses, jackets, and tops were embroidered or patterned in bright cherries, strawberries, florals, and leaves that mixed romantic Victorian looks with Pop and whimsy. A few looks were given an edge via velvet, fur, or lined with strips of studded black patent leather strips. The collection was paired with mid-calf, lace-up, peep toe booties and in some instances, navy Nike leggings.
