Haute Couture FW23 Collections in Paris
Paris Couture Week has come to a ceremonious close, and Whitewall is bringing you highlights of the haute couture fw23 collections from brands like Armani Privé, Ashi, Fendi, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
Armani Privé
Armani Privé’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023/24 collection was a radiant presentation brimming with decadently jeweled gowns, free flowing evening wear, and elegantly tailored jackets. A luxurious tunic was embroidered in an eye-catching blue, orange, and black floral design, paired with silver brocade cropped pants and garnet heels. Nature’s bounty bloomed across dresses with sheer sleeves, were positioned just so on chic wool jackets, and were artfully exotic on satin, shoulder-bearing tunics. Compelling geometric patterns danced atop a sparkling short-sleeved shirt, bearing midriff and décolletage, brought together by a gleaming ivory rose. Celestial patterns twinkled down the tiers of a gossamer-like strapless dress, outlined across the top of the bust by beguiling crimson flowers. Luxurious smoking jackets with soft shawl collars were shown in glittering black, sleek patterned gray, or embellished with seductive red, gold, and silver embroidery reminiscent of fragrant gardens basking in the moonlight.
Ashi
With a dramatic debut at the Théatre du Châtelet in Paris, the Ashi Couture Fall/Winter 2023 collection ebbed and flowed in organic, provocative shapes and shades of gold, ivory, and ebony. A celebration of potent self-expression, soulful mystery, and visceral memory, Ashi Studio invoked novelist Patrick Süskind’s legendary novel, Perfume. The story of ardent desire and the power of scent was felt in shadowy romantic looks ranging from skin-bearing corsets to structural creations which hid even the visage if so desired. A voluptuous silk dress in warm gold was held at the top by serpent-like armor, wrapping around the neck and bust. Ecru organza was worn like a fragrant second skin, caressing curves in a floor-length dress. Silhouettes entranced like perfume bottles in S-curves that felt both vintage-inspired and elegantly futuristic. A shimmering gold cape lightly embroidered with feathers glamorously swung down the runway, full of secrets. Ombré resin heels, intricate beading, and glassy mesh derived from grass conjured a sixth sense for the smoldering side of romance.
Fendi
Fendi fused treasured technique with contemporary attitude for the Couture Fall/Winter 2023 collection. Artistic Director Kim Jones envisioned garments as a lavish extension of high jewelry, presenting soft and supple pieces embellished with vibrant rubies, sapphires, and black diamonds. Couture became beautifully wearable through the eyes of Jones, notably through chevron feathered shearlings, sensual silks, and knits allowing range of movement. Neoprene tailored furs were equally touchable, as were luminous jeweled off-the shoulder gowns and shapely outer corsets. Hues of pink, pearl, mint green, and red were effervescent, unveiling thousands of hours worth of skilled embroidery. Draped perfectly around the female form, and paired with posh geometric clutches, rings, and footwear, the show was a glowing achievement of New Wave couture.
Jean Paul Gaultier
The Jean Paul Gaultier x Julien Dossena Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023/24 collection rejoiced in the iconic corsets and fairy-tale-like designs of the maison, while layering fierce animal prints, floral embroideries, and demure lace for a fresh and luminous show. A champagne-hued duchesse satin corset bodysuit came alive with embroidered dragons, gleaming with silk and metallic thread, worn dynamically with an asymmetrical draped skirt of silver to gold mesh. Paired adventurously with a beaded headdress and black leather boots, the look was supremely feminine. A metal-embroidered tulle babydoll dress and matching robe was worn over a full-body nude slip for the ultimate take on loungewear. Tartan made an artful appearance in a cowl neck kilt dress, paired with a beaded skirt boasting a sliver of a chiffon. A gold-flaked crochet dress would certainly suit the ultimate contemporary heroine, while the double-breasted faux fur leopard jacket, worn with a voluminous Russian-hat, will keep her protected no matter the storm ahead.
