The dresses of Giambattista Valli Haute Couture spring/summer 2014 collection were very much inspired by the summer cocktail parties we wish were happening right now (instead of this polar vortex 2.0). The embellishments and layers were bold and the length of dress hems were consistently shorter in length, sometimes with an asymmetrical, longer back, giving each look a leggy silhouette.
Dresses incorporated pleated fabrics, silk crop-tops, lots of satin, and there was quite a bit of emphasis on bedazzled necklines and ribboned hems. Each dress was garnished and embroidered with a floral theme, exemplifying the designer’s inspiration drawn from the beauty of flowers and the Impressionists.

The embroidery climbing up the dresses was vibrantly colored in vivid blues and reds with ribbons of deep blacks, while the pieces themselves were seen in much paler tones of ivory and pink.
