Haute Couture SS14: Yiqing Yin’s Moth-Inspired Collection

No contributor

While a few spring/summer 2014 couture collections were inspired by the butterfly, the couture collection from Yiqing Yin chose to draw a vision from the butterfly’s darker sister, the night-dwelling moth.

Silhouettes of layering grays and creamy tones consumed the collection while also providing a few metallic looks for a glitzy undertone. Setting the theme into full motion, gowns were accessorized with a set of tattered wings and haunting headpieces. Fox fur and leather were accompanied with silk fabrics, bringing the quiet creature of the night to life. Chiffon and tufts of fur replicated the dusty wings and feathery antennas of the secretly seductive winged insect.
