Just Cavalli Captures Sunlight in a Spectrum of Late Seventies Inspiration

By Allison Merchant

July 11, 2016

Just Cavalli transported us to a time where bellbottoms roamed the streets and sunshine was tangible. For Resort 2017, designer Peter Dundas unveiled a causal collection of carefree waves and nonchalant coolness.

Silhouetted by positivity and optimism was the new wave of designs with a palette of rainbow colors and a broad spectrum of late seventies, early eighties inspiration. Snake-skin shimmered on short, light dresses while chiffon blouses added delicacy to skinny jeans or high waist flares.

Dundas blended the illusions of femininity and masculinity with variations on bomber jackets and chiffon disco dresses under boyish sweatshirts. The leisure life of surfers and rockers was glamorized with small embellishments like sun patches, floral patterns, and ironic badges.
