Louis Vuitton Brings Style L’Étoile du Nord in Paris

Paris Fashion Week gets a bit more interesting with Louis Vuittons standout collection in an abandoned train station.

This Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton took its audience on a captivating journey back to the 19th century, unveiling its autumn/winter collection inside the enchanting L’Étoile du Nord, a secret train station. As 400 guests passed through elegant arches and beneath grand balconies, they were transported into a mesmerizing world, where beautifully lit windows and the distant hum of trains set the stage for an unforgettable spectacle. The garments transformed the models into characters rushing to their destinations. Detectives and travelers in enchanting gowns, each piece telling a story steeped in the rich, complex memories of a forgotten station.

The station came to life with models hurrying down the runway with luggage in hand, passing by overhead on grand balconies and through enchanted back-lit windows, aweing the crowd with their shadows. Transforming into a bustling station was perfectly curated to mesh with the ethos of the brand. Hinting towards the beginning of the brand, the set put Louis Vuitton’s elite craftsmanship in action, showing how all kinds of travelers utilize their products.

This stark, evocative space was a subtle yet powerful homage to the essence of travel with the impatience of waiting, the excitement of a journey, and the myriad emotions that accompany the passage through stations. With no distractions but the steady ticking of the clock and the sound of distant trains, the setting became more than just a set. Drawing from the fantasy of Agatha Cristie and even “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” the platform spotlighted the garments perfectly. The sound of Kraftwerk’s “Trans-Europe Express” played before the show, setting the tone for a collection deeply inspired by both the band and the timeless thrill of journeying.

Catching the Train In Style

Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière was inspired by the thrill of a new adventure, bittersweet goodbyes, and the emotions at a train station. Each outfit reflected a unique traveler, with oversized coats in materials from leather and fur to a translucent flesh color trench. Playing into the train station fantasy, models appeared dressed in a haste, throwing on knit hats and sweaters, hurrying to catch their train. A variety of patterns hit the runway, from elegant florals to bold 1980s abstract designs.

The styling spotlighted all walks of life, featuring styles for everyday wear and opulent, luxurious dresses. Structures varied from pointed shoulders and dramatic ruffles cinched at the waist to elongated elegant jackets with Louis Vuitton scarves tied into a bow at the neck.  The “Trans-Europe Express” album cover was featured on the back of garments, blending all forms of media to pay homage to luxury travel. Louis Vuitton ambassador Lee Felix, also known as Felix from the iconic K-pop group Stray Kids, walked in the show sporting a mix of patterns in an oversized silhouette.
