To kick off the new year, Louis Vuitton introduced a new collaboration with the Swiss artist Urs Fischer. Titled “Louis Vuitton x Urs Fischer,” the collection of leather goods, accessories, and ready-to-wear items highlights the house’s trademark monogram print in a new iteration imagined by the artist.
For the collaboration, Fischer has recreated the print by hand-drawing the elements from the monogram in a style he calls “memory sketches.” The resulting flowers and “LV” initials take on a distorted, dreamlike variation, which has then been applied to each piece specifically to fit its design. The special print has been imagined in two colorways—a black and white version, and a red and black take with a three-dimensional effect. And accompanying the monogram is a series of characters and objects imagined by Fischer, which takes the form of a playful print.
Comprising the collection is a wide selection of pieces including seven special-edition bags (including the Keepall, Cabas, Onthego, Speedy, Pochettes Accessoires, a hard-sided beauty case, andtwo takes of the Neverfull), garments like miniskirts, sporty pullovers, and sweat pants, and a selection of shoes and other accessories, including scarves, detachable hoods, and a pair of platform high tops.
