New York in the seventies, eighties, and early nineties served as the jumping off point for Louis Vuitton‘s men’s fall/winter 2017-18 collection. “It’s uptown and downtown,” said Kim Jones, Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director. “Artists and musicians, friends and heroes.” That mix of personalities, neighborhoods, and styles, was the crux of the line. Jones found a multitude of muses as well, like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Andy Warhol. For the season, there were wide pants, street-smart tailoring, workwear, utilitarian shapes, raw cuts, loose tailored coats, and a lot of Supreme. As Jones said, “No New York City men’s conversation is complete without Supreme.”
