Louis Vuitton Unveils Special Edition Trophy Trunk for Formula One 75th Anniversary

London hosts Formula 1’s 75th Anniversary celebrating the event with an exclusive Louis Vuitton trophy trunk.

In celebration of Formula 1’s 75th anniversary, the iconic Louis Vuitton has crafted a unique trunk that transcends the traditional trophy case. The Louis Vuitton FIA Formula One World Championship Trophy Trunk debuted at London’s O2 Arena on February 18, 2025. The luxury trunk merges function with the celebration of craftsmanship, history, and the race to exclusive excellence. With its meticulously painted panels, rich leather details, and a nod to both Vuitton’s heritage and the thrilling world of motorsport, this trunk unites the worlds of racing and luxury. This year, millions of Formula 1 fans eagerly awaited to see who would be the best driver of the season, awarded with the stunning trunk as the grand prize.

A Fusion of Luxury and Finish Lines

Complete with all the traditional and luxurious features of a typical Louis Vuitton trunk, this collaboration pushed the brand to explore outside its comfort zone. The sleek, hand-painted finish featured a “V” on the two folding front panels, symbolizing both “Victory” and “Vuitton.” The letter was painted in emblematic black and white Damier, referencing the Formula 1 color palette and finish line.

The simple yet luxurious incorporation of racing elements into the design honored the sporting side of the partnership without detracting from the esteemed Louis Vuitton aesthetic. The exterior boasts timeless leather trim and brass hardware, consistently used since the very first trunks crafted by Louis Vuitton in the 1860s. The interior is lined with luxurious black leather and microfiber to ensure the prized trophy was kept safe in the most stylish manner.

From the Workshop to the Racetrack

Louis Vuitton’s deep-rooted connection to car culture traces back to 1897, when Georges Vuitton, the founder’s son, designed the first automotive trunks to meet the rising demand for travel and car accessories. His innovation, a durable canvas material named “Vuittonite,” replaced traditional leather, ensuring that the trunks could endure any of the elements. This vision for practical, stylish, and resilient travel gear laid the foundation for the iconic Louis Vuitton canvas we recognize today.

For over 125 years, the brand continuously evolved, leaving its mark across various industries. The creation of this trophy trunk served as an exclusive extension of Louis Vuitton’s legacy in crafting protective, transportable trunks for the world’s most prestigious events. From their workshops in Asnières, France, to the racetrack in London, this trunk embodied the perfect blend of luxury and sport.

Louis Vuitton’s partnership with Formula 1 began with a collaboration alongside the Automobile Club de Monaco, introducing the trophy trunk for the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix from 2021 to 2024. As Formula 1 continues to captivate a global audience of millions, Louis Vuitton’s involvement ensures that the sport’s most memorable moments are marked by tradition and luxury. The event highlighted the connection between excellence in motorsport and craftsmanship, solidifying the iconic statement that “Victory Travels in Vuitton,” as the House celebrated the legendary 75th anniversary of Formula 1.
