This week during Paris Fashion Week, maison AZ Factory presented “Love Brings Love,” in tribute to Alber Elbaz, who passed away earlier this year. Held within the city’s Carreau du Temple, the homage—named for a phrase often said by Elbaz—took the form of a monumental fashion presentation where the label was joined by a group of 45 other brands who came together to honor the beloved designer.
“Tonight’s celebration for our dear Alber was a magical moment—talents celebrating talent is a remarkable tribute to the man we all loved so much,” said AZ Factory’s CEO, Laurent Malecaze at the event. “We are very humbled by the extraordinary support from all those who participated in the making of the show, and to all those who were able to join us for this historic night.”
AZ Factory was a passion project of Elbaz, meant to center beautiful fashion that solves problems. Fittingly, it kicked off the runway with its own design, the sleek MyBody black dress, before names like Off-White, Thebe Magugu, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Comme Des Garçons, Ralph Lauren, Dior, Dries Van Noten, and Louis Vuitton each offered one garment as a salute to the designer’s life and work. Encompassing an entourage of couture and ready-to-wear, the presentation included looks like a rainbow dress by Christopher John Rogers, a trench ballgown lined with gigantic hearts from Viktor & Rolf, and a dreamy metallic plissé ensemble from Stella McCartney.
Once each house had shared its chosen design, the audience caught the first glimpse of a 25-piece collection from AZ Factory, created with Elbaz in mind. The collection recognized his work throughout the years for names like Lanvin, Guy Laroche, and Yves Saint Laurent, and featured a suite of elegant and inventive silhouettes, like a pink satin coat with an exaggerated cowl neck, a robe-like suit and tie look with detailed embroidery, and a stunning, billowing gown in yellow.
