Marc Jacobs fall/winter 2016

Marc Jacobs Makes “Every Girl a Show” With Grayscale Collection

Marc Jacobs capped off New York Fashion week with his stunning fall/winter 2016 show at the Park Avenue Armory. A host of models, including Kendall Jenner and Lady Gaga, paraded down the runway in heavy black eyeshadow and platform boots to present Jacobs’ latest work, which reinvented the colorful ideas of his narrative-based spring 2016 collection into a dramatic grayscale story.

In an effort to “make every girl a show unto herself,” Jacobs employed leather jackets and oversized sweaters to create a sleek, modern look. Lace collars and patchwork patterns created vaudeville moments in this electrifying collection. Standout pieces included a denim jacket with spiderweb embroidery and metal chains draped out of asymmetric pockets; a gothic black floral gown with a silver ivy off-shoulder neckline; and an embroidered velvet jacket with a black-plumed collar.
