Last Thursday, Max Mara and Safilo launched of a limited-edition collaboration with artist Shantell Martin, “Prism in Motion.” Martin was inspired by emotional connections that came to mind when thinking of the prism and the multi-faceted personalities of today’s women. The work she made was then digitally fragmented into 1000 pieces, each inserted into a pair of frames. In that way, as the artist explained, buyers are able to “wear the [art]work, walk away with it and experience it in a completely new way.”
To celebrate the special project, a cocktail event was held at the Max Mara flagship in Paris. For the sunglasses, Martin imposed her signature black-and-white drawings on the frames. That evening, she also revealed an original new work for the occasion.
