Yesterday in Milan, Max Mara presented its spring/summer 2018 collection—a poetic and precise offering for the modern woman. We saw a piece from the brand’s early days making a return—a sand-on-sand heritage logo motif—woven into a trench coat and printed onto a leather jacket. Also for the trench coat was a re-emergence of it as a crisp linen spolverino, and as a pencil skirt, too. Structured blazers and tailored trousers gave the collection a bit of playful roughness, and ankle-length skirts—like buckled kilts, sheer looks, and skirts made of long strips of fabric—added some delicate drama.
With subdued elegance and urban sleekness, there were smart, sophisticated takes on florals, and the sight of light lavender for many looks, too. And new for the season, we saw the Iris sunglasses—light purple, with wide stems, and in an oval-rectangular shape.
