Last week in Shanghai, Max Mara presented its pre-fall 2016-17 collection “Monopolis!” The Shanghai Convention Center played host to a specially-designed runway set with stage props, stadium seating, and an entrance hall with LED arches, and guests gained sight of the purple-tainted exterior.
The collection was full of neutrals and patterns—all ranging in texture. Max Mara’s thick waist belt made a return, wrapped around many of the long fur and knit coats, as well as high-waist skirts and below-the-knee dresses. Also of note were the elegant combat-like boots that laced up to the knee, in black and taupe to complement many of the looks, especially paired with accessories like the long black leather gloves and the oversized satchel bag carried at the hip.

Within the new collection was an 11-piece capsule collection by contemporary Chinese artist Liu Wei. Available on the brand’s website and in 45 select Max Mara boutiques, the pieces are sure to cause a stir in the art and fashion worlds this fall.
