Milan Fashion Week is a Utopian Homecoming with Marni, Fendi, and More

The Milan runway was tailor made to suit life’s most dynamic odysseys, made evident this year by the sublime garments debuted by Marni, Fendi, Antonio Marras, and Kiton.

Milan Fashion Week is off to an enchanting start, honoring origin stories that have paved the way for a radiant future. Here, Whitewall lingers in the details of fashion houses Marni, Fendi, Antonio Marras, and more.

Marni’s Spring/Summer 2025 VOL.2 Runway Chases the Enigmatic White Rabbit

The Marni Spring/Summer 2025 VOL.2 runway invoked the spirit of chasing that enigmatic white rabbit, and finding yourself suddenly submerged in the utterly fantastical. Against a celestial score by luminary Dev Hynes, with compositions by the skillful Julius Eastman, live piano performances by Hynes, Adam Tendler, and Sharleen Chidiac summoned a parade of models in softly spellbinding garments. Majestically choreographed by Chidiac, in the sublime vision of Creative Director Francesco Risso, striking elements of art and design merged to become one. Blooming roses, kaleidoscopic rhinestones, and fluffy scraps of fine material were spotted on fairytale-like gowns, avant-garde suiting, and playful separates.

Fendi’s Divine Tribute to Founder Adele Fendi in a Milestone Moment

In celebration of a profound centenary presentation, the FENDI Womenswear Spring/Summer 2025 catwalk fused the captivating voices of Silvia Venturini Fendi and Anna Fendi with the musical stylings of Max Richter. Voyaging through the maison’s rapturous origins, and the far-reaching vision of founding heroine Adele Fendi, the sleek and sensual show blended ready-to-wear and couture universes. Exquisite savoir-faire in the form of meticulous embroidery descended across demure slips in organza and silk, as well as in the perfect dusk till dawn t-shirts. Decadent suedes and shearlings were donned as warm-weather robes, and a revitalization of the Mamma Baguette unearthed a delicate, time-honored accessory in divine tribute to Adele Fendi.

“The foundations of how women dress today, and in many ways, how we think are in the 1920s,” said masterful Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear Kim Jones. “It’s about modernity in style and attitude.”

Antonio Marras Embraces the Life of Anna Maria Pierangeli

Within a rousing rock and roll soundscape, the Antonio Marras Spring/Summer 2025 collection debut paid distinct homage to Anna Maria Pierangeli, an enchanting dreamer born in Sardinia who soon became a vintage Hollywood icon. Titled “The dust on stage is extremely dangerous,” a grandmother’s warning to a young and innocent Pierangeli, the fashion house’s latest show invokes deeply felt themes of destiny, dichotomy, and desire. Upon the show’s opening, a dialogue of family postcards set the stage for opulent, cinematic garments. Jacquard designs in ecru and black echoed the stone labyrinths of Sardinia, while luminous florals conjured Pierangeli’s hazy summers under the California sun, where reality and fantasy were one in the same.

“Beverly Hills is wonderful and I’m very happy here,” said Pierangeli in a postcard to her mother. “I’m talking about the place, not my heart, which is sad and you know why.”

Kiton’s Toast to Sensorial Journeys for Spring/Summer 2025

In a zestful toast to adventures, both emotional and physical, Kiton’s Womenswear Spring/ Summer 2025 runway unfolded as a romantic, sensorial pilgrimage. “Homecoming” was unveiled as the bewitching second chapter of the maison’s comprehensive endeavor: “A Grand Journey.” In a soothing palette of earthy hues such as rust, navy, and maroon, cotton sarongs, chic swimsuits, and floor-grazing dresses were tailor-made for life’s most dynamic odysseys. Whirling, abstract patterns recalled the singular artistry of Klimt and Vermeer, with shining fabrics and collages of silk, cotton, and cashmere beckoning us to revel in sensational escapades.

“Kiton derives from a Neapolitan tradition which, by definition, has always been a sponge,” said Creative Director Maria Giovanna Paone. “We learn and open our minds, but we never abandon our origins, to which we always return with new enthusiasm and discoveries.”
