MUGLER debuted the second part of its Spring/Summer 2021 collection this week in a film work by TORSO that transcended space and time. Offering a satirical commentary on the typical fashion show format, designer Casey Cadwallader’s garments were worn by a glamorous cast of characters portrayed by names from across the worlds of art, television, cinema, and music (like Hunter Schafer, Soo Joo Park, Bella Hadid, Eartheater, and Kembra Pfahler), who performed extreme feats with the help of stunt doubles.

The video builds on the powerful mood portrayed in the Spring/Summer 2021 Part 01 film, which was released last fall. The collection puts a focus on shape and comfort through sensual, illusory garments that cling to and hang from the body’s natural curvature—like in the use of trompe l’oeil fabrications, barely-there silhouettes, extreme cut-outs and plunging necklines, and the use of flexible materials that move with the wearer.
The collection was imagined in hues like black, white, acid yellow, sky blue, and cherry red, along with a wavy print reminiscent of electric neon lights. Casual styles like jeans and shirt jackets were given a high fashion update through details like strong shoulders with fitted waists, or accent seams and slashed hems. Styling was kept to a minimum, letting elements like multiple straps, controlled drapery, and pops of color take the spotlight.

Highlight looks included an all-over sheer look with sequined details and a choker, a black bandeau top worn with denim-and-black fitted jeans, and a simple color-blocked top in lime silk and black paired with pencil-legged trousers. Other pieces we loved were a white halter neck blouse with long, full sleeves, a matching set with flared ankles, the selection of tall sheer gloves, and a series of strappy garments informed by lingerie styles.
