Last week, Nike announced three new design collaborations with Marc Newson, Riccardo Tisci, and Arthur Huang. Each was tasked with re-imagining the classic Nike Air Max, which will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary.
NIKELAB AIR VAPORMAX X MARC NEWSON
Marc Newson teamed up with Nike lab two combine for a futuristic design that incorporates FlyKnit and Air VaporMax. Newson was inspired by a moccasin, creating a lightweight shoe with full-grain leather chassis, Velcro strap frame, and pre-molded Nike Flyknit sockliner.

NIKELAB AIR MAX 97 MID X R.T.
Riccardo Tisci channelled 90s footwear with an Italian flare to update the Nike Air Max 97. A mix of couture and streetwear, a concealed zip pocket stands out against a white outsole and tumbled synthetic leather and suede on the upper, topped off with a foil embossed logo.
NIKELAB AIR MAX 1 FK ROYAL X ARTHUR HUANG
Arthur Huang’s collaboration with NikeLab resulted in one of the lightest Air Max 1s yet. The architect and Miniwiz CEO paired the shoe with a similarly light-weight post-consumer material made package.
