Minimalism reigned supreme at Porsche Design‘s spring/summer 2014 runway presentation in New York. Precision tailoring coupled with deliberately frugal details gave the collection a clean, sporty aesthetic that will no doubt resonate with the fashion crowd.
The structured, yet slouchy silhouettes that have been popular on the runway this season informed much of the men’s and women’s pieces; with extended cap sleeves, boxy jackets, and ankle-length pants finding purchase throughout. In the case of the women’s collection, light, airy fabrics were at times combined with heavy, rigidly structured skirts and jackets to create interesting textural juxtaposition.
What we have to appreciate most about both the men and women’s collection is the way in which they combine luxury, sport, and loungewear. Offerings like a pair of supple, leather, lounge pants paired with an oversized, A-line top featuring exaggerated cap sleeves nail the effortless, casual chic so many women find attractive.
