Pharrell Williams and NIGO’s Salute to Friendship for Louis Vuitton in Paris

Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams and Japanese fashion designer NIGO unveiled a celebratory fall/winter 2025 collection.

Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director, and iconic Japanese designer NIGO brought their shared vision to life in an unforgettable Fall/Winter 2025 collection. Debuted in Paris, the collection is a heartfelt celebration of friendship, creativity, and cross-cultural collaboration, seamlessly blending Vuitton’s storied heritage with fresh, contemporary flair. With bold designs and a narrative rooted in mutual respect and artistic synergy, this collection is a testament to the power of partnership.

Within a cloud-like pink and silver set ideated by Wonderwall, the visionary design house of Masamichi Katayama, frosted glass cases honored treasures of yore, while models donned avant-garde garments awash with “Phriendship” graphics, dandy-inspired suiting and workwear, as well as pieces enhanced by meticulous Japanese craftsmanship. The show commenced with the rapturous sounds of Nobuo Uematsu’s “One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy VII),” skillfully performed by L’Orchestre du Pont Neuf. The dynamic piece encompasses original tracks produced by Williams including SEVENTEEN’s “Bad Influence” and a collaboration of Don Toliver and j-hope titled  “LV Bag.”

Guests of the magnificent show settled within a circular stage, basking in a lit-from-within ceiling. The otherworldly orbit shined down on a curvaceous parade of sleek vitrines reminiscent of the fashion house’s archives. Each of the 24 cases featured singular loans and pieces from private collectors, uniting the histories and ideologies of Williams, NIGO, and Louis Vuitton.

As the first models strutted down the bespoke catwalk, it was clear that these statement garments would one day become part of treasured, future archives. The show rejoiced in the camaraderie and creativity of two visionary designers, honoring their co-launch of Billionaire Boys Club and ICECREAM in 2003, their inaugural Louis Vuitton collaboration in 2004 on the LV Millionaires 1.0 sunglasses, NIGO’s formation of Human Made in 2010 supported by Williams, and so on.

As Artistic Director of KENZO, as well as founder of streetwear brand A Bathing Ape, NIGO shares Williams’ reverence for the stunning point where elegance meets edge. Continuing in this ethos, the fall/winter 2025 runway exuded masterful charm. Early 2000s silhouettes were deftly fused with dandy streetwear, while embracing the hardy workwear of gardeners, engineers, and chefs. We were especially drawn to the gleaming bomber jacket centered with a sunshine yellow, pop art flower, and pastel leather varsity jacket enhanced by an iconic LV emblem.

Honoring French and Japanese Craftsmanship and Connection

Japanese patterns and processes radiated throughout Louis Vuiton’s masterpieces. The maison’s trademark flower motif was reimagined as a Dandy Monogram in a sculptural diamond motif. This detail was brilliantly set across the sashiko stitch on denim, in crystal embroideries, and in lush jacquards. Dandy Damier invoked the ethereal textiles found in traditional tea ceremonies, and shimmered through leather, denim, and knitwear in mesmeric checkered imagery.

Adventuring through the vibrant streets of Japan motivated a collection of must-have handbags. The Speedy glowed in plush calfskin, debuting in yuzu yellow, sakura pink, and sencha green. Further, blissful editions were unveiled in indigo blue, dyed in respect to Japanese tradition, as well as a gold iteration with white monogram, echoing the charm of kinsugi pottery.

Japanese artist Azuma Makoto joined the euphoric creative partnership in a revisioning of the house’s Courrier Lozine 110 trunk. Showcased on the runway, sheer acrylic glass trunks studded with flowers took our breath away. Williams and NIGO additionally presented two sake and matcha tea ceremony trunks, saluting to the beauty of French and Japanese craftsmanship, and to the sanctity of friendship.
