Prada bucked all unisex expectations in Milan, as they put ultra-feminine energy on the runway. Saccharine sweet, yet electric with youth, the fall/winter 2015 collection focused on candy-colored pastels, colorful tweeds, and a couple of quirks to deliver a subsurface current of retro-inspired looks.
Double-breasted suits in neoprene were paired with high ponytails and up-dos (delicately adorned with a flower-shaped crystal barrette). On many dresses, an outward shoulder pad of doubled fur matched accents of color below the waist. And silk collars in opposing colors were seen atop knit tops.
Large boutonniéres accented nearly ever outfit in powerful plastic, and long leather gloves were worn with sleeveless tops, elongated wool vests, and delicate dresses. Short-strap handbags were casually carried, sleek flats had a double strap and pointed toe, and mid-calf boots had a two-tone design.
Fondant fancy seemed to have hit an all-time, sweet new level in Prada’s newest collection.
