Primeval, Red Carpet Glamour From Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture

Sarah Bochicchio

10 July 2014

For their autumn/winter 2014 haute couture collection, Dutch duo Viktor & Rolf decided to dress their models in the red carpet, rather than for it. With no variation in material or even setting, red carpet was everywhere, presenting a new take on red carpet glamour.

Rather than a vision of old Hollywood romance, Viktor & Rolf took the red carpet in an unexpected direction, channeling Stone Age garments into couture-worthy ensembles. Asymmetrical, knotted dresses spoke to primitive construction methods while carpeted animal pints echoed furry camouflage.

The collection also presented Viktor & Rolf’s ongoing collaboration with Swarovski. The specially crafted, red velvet bracelet falls in line with Viktor & Rolf’s belief that “no red carpet is complete without the matching jewels.”
