Reed Krakoff Can Make Alligator and Fur Understated

No contributor

The fashion elite including Rachel Zoe, fashion blogger Bryan Boy, Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, and Joe Zee all turned out for designer Reed Krakoff‘s fall/winter 2013–2014 viewing. The designer sent statuesque models wearing minimal makeup down a raised runway as mellow music swelled and crescendoed in the background.

The diverse collection was full of contemporary classics peppered with quietly luxurious accents. A backless fur top was paired with a silky velvet wrap skirt and compact navy alligator satchel, and cashmere ribbed sweaters in white, charcoal, and warm brown hues. While there were a few sleeveless dresses that accented the model’s collarbone and shoulder area, Krakoff’s collection was all about crisp silhouettes and understated luxury. Alligator, fur, satin, cashmere, and velvet were used unsparingly and the looks were complemented by thigh high blocked-heeled calf suede boots. The designer also toyed with the season’s popular military trend, sending super-structured military inspired outerwear and sweaters down his winding runway.
