In Milan this week, Marni showed its new fall/winter 2017-18 menswear collection full of head-turning pieces. Speaking of, and specifically for the head, the brand showed larger-than-life fuzzy hats in both reserved and loud two-tone colors. Casual fit trousers took a turn on the runway, too, held high with a belt at the waist or in its loops, and paired with button-downs, sweaters, or trenches. Not far behind the baggy pants were a different, and more rambunctious type—quilted, sans-belt loop joggers with a three-button closure. We also saw the reemergence of a utility belt, which was out of its loops and over jackets, and block patches of fur on the outside of many shirts and jackets. There were a handful of corduroy pieces, and many, many fur and shaggy coats, as well, mixed among vibrant and varying prints like filled-in and hollow, light blue circles, plaid, jagged lines, and stripes. Risks at hand, and worn all over, Marni isn’t afraid of fall.
