Saint Laurent fall/winter 2017.

Saint Laurent’s Paris Sessions

Last week in Paris, Hedi Slimane continued his 60s Parisian rock star romp for Saint Laurent’s fall/winter 2015 menswear. Called the “Paris Sessions,” the collection fuses vintage rock motifs with styles reminiscent of the Beat generation. Sinuous, black leather-clad legs led to perfectly pointed-toe boots, while sleek tailoring, skinny ties, stripes, glitter, and black abounded. The designer even managed to make a zebra-print fur coat seem chic.

But the overriding adjective oozing from all the looks sent down Slimane’s runway was “cool.” There’s something ineffably magnetic about his designs, an aura of nonchalance that seems sewn into the very seams of his garments. Some highlights included a black-and-white striped mock turtleneck under a perfectly slim black blazer, black jeans, and boots. Another ensemble featuring a punk, button-emblazoned leather bomber over a black sweater with a triangular grommet embellishment revealed exactly by the jacket’s neckline worn with a red and black striped scarf, skinny black jeans and boots.
