For fall/winter 2017, the Sonia Rykiel-wearing woman is given freedom of expression, and the hall pass to get rebellious with her creativity. With touches from Rykiel’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés upbringing, we see her personal and professional life intermingle, with a symbolic and spontaneous collection full of colorful fun. Empowering as it is exciting, there are feathers, faux fut, crystals, and utilitarian fabrics—all suggestive of a strong woman with playful femininity.
Tweeds are used as a patchwork, stripes are reimagined, and blazer suits are unstructured. Pajama pants are paired with an array of new shoes—some with flat studs and feathers, others with bold color. Frills are draped elegantly and boldly to cover up just enough skin, and there’s just enough faux fur donning the bags—like the re-invented Le Copain bag, and the new-this-seson Niki— to be chic and young, yet sophisticated and multi-useful.
