That’s Some Glamorous Cotton: Supima Design Competition at NYFW

Kicking off New York Fashion Week SS 2014, The Supima Design Competition featured eight talented contestants stemming from some of America’s leading design schools. Each designer sent evening wear down the runway showcasing original designs all made with Supima fine cotton. Fashion figure extraordinaire, Rachel Zoe, hosted the event along with big names in the fashion industry from supermodel Jessica Stam to designer Rachel Roy who participated as judges for the competition this year.

Walking away with the 2013 Winning Designer title and a $10,000 cash prize was Rhode Island School of Design’s Morgan Selin, who beat out her competition with navy and metallic silver evening gowns featuring a modern and edgy appeal of slashes of fabric and multi-tiered skirts. This being the third annual Supima Design Competition, designers were judged on originality, execution, and ability to showcase Supima luxury cotton.
