Paris Men's Fashion Week

The Cinematic Power of Paris Men’s Fashion Week: 6 Immersive Shows

From poetic reflections on nature to Hollywood glamour after dark, these runway moments captured the season's most compelling narratives.

Paris Men’s Fashion Week is as much about atmosphere as it is about clothes. Across the city, historic landmarks, contemporary art spaces, and transformed cultural venues became immersive stages where designers invited audiences into carefully imagined worlds. One show unfolded inside Jean Nouvel‘s celebrated glass architecture, another transported guests to Hollywood after dark, while elsewhere a forest of black bamboo, poetic reflections on portraiture, and politically charged performance blurred the boundaries between fashion, art, and storytelling

Throughout the week, music, scenography, and craftsmanship worked in harmony to deepen each collection’s narrative, proving that the runway remains one of fashion’s most compelling forms of expression. From AMI‘s optimistic vision of everyday Parisian dressing to Wales Bonner‘s lyrical meditation on identity and style, these six collections stood out not only for beautifully considered clothes, but for the memorable worlds they created around them.

AMI Finds Joy in Everyday Paris

Alexandre Mattiussi opened AMI’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation inside the former Cartier Foundation, Jean Nouvel’s iconic glass structure where natural light dissolved the boundaries between inside and outside. The setting perfectly echoed the collection’s philosophy of openness and ease, while a soundtrack that moved from the cinematic compositions of Andrea Laszlo De Simone to the soulful rhythms of Amadou & Mariam before ending with electronic beats by Enfant Sauvage and Møme mirrored the show’s emotional progression.

Mattiussi’s wardrobe celebrated the quiet pleasures of everyday dressing, pairing softly tailored jackets with vintage-inspired T-shirts, relaxed shirting, technical outerwear, and fluid trousers that reflected the effortless rhythm of contemporary Paris. Masculine tailoring met feminine softness through generous proportions and deconstructed construction, while saturated reds and cobalt blues energized an otherwise restrained palette. Supple leather accessories and retro-inspired sneakers completed a collection that reaffirmed AMI’s greatest strength: creating refined clothes designed for living beautifully every day.

AMIRI’s “American Pleasures” After Dark

Titled “American Pleasures,” Mike Amiri‘s latest collection transformed the Carreau du Temple into an evocative vision of Los Angeles after sunset. Drawing inspiration from American Gigolo and the city’s legendary nightlife, the designer imagined a cast of characters drifting between private homes, glamorous hotel bars, and exclusive clubs, where elegance unfolds with instinctive ease. That decadent mood shaped every silhouette, as softly structured tailoring, sloping shoulders, fluid trousers, and elongated jackets replaced rigid formality with effortless sophistication.

Denim remained central to the AMIRI vocabulary, elevated alongside shimmering tweeds, metallic pinstripes, silk-linen blends, and luminous fabrics that recalled moonlight reflecting across Hollywood streets. Decorative references to iconic interiors, from lacquered finishes to American-Asian-inspired embroideries, further enriched the collection without overwhelming its relaxed confidence. The debut of AMIRI’s fine jewelry collaboration with Spinelli Kilcollin also marked an important milestone, extending the house’s evolving vision of contemporary American luxury beyond clothing alone.

BLUEMARBLE Celebrates the Stories We Collect

Anthony Alvarez continued BLUEMARBLE‘s thoughtful exploration of memory through a collection inspired by the writings of Roger Caillois, whose fascination with both board games and mineral collecting became an unexpected framework for Spring/Summer 2027. Alvarez examined the enduring objects that connect generations, transforming treasured memories into richly crafted garments. Tailoring embroidered with stone motifs, patchworked denim, weathered leather, and cargo trousers detailed with playful game-inspired hardware balanced artisanal precision with youthful curiosity.

Throughout the collection, surfaces appeared naturally aged through carefully developed washes that recalled weathered stone, while earthy mineral tones and flashes of vibrant color reinforced the dialogue between nature and play. The collection’s emphasis on craftsmanship remained central, with visible handwork celebrating the maker behind each garment. By finding poetry in objects often overlooked, BLUEMARBLE continued to distinguish itself as one of Paris’s most conceptually engaging young labels, pairing intellectual curiosity with a remarkably wearable contemporary wardrobe.

IM MEN’s “In Praise of Bamboo Shadows”

Presented at Césure beneath the title “In Praise of Bamboo Shadows,” IM MEN delivered one of the week’s most immersive experiences. Guests entered an installation of black bamboo where translucent layers and shifting silhouettes evoked the quiet movement of a bamboo forest, immediately establishing the collection’s contemplative tone. Drawing inspiration from East Asian decorative arts, ink wash paintings, and traditional katazome dyeing techniques, the designers translated fleeting shadows into remarkably innovative textiles.

Bamboo-fiber fabrics, hand-pleated garments, lightweight jacquards, and intricately dyed denim combined technical precision with extraordinary lightness, creating sculptural forms that moved gracefully with the body. Throughout the presentation, centuries-old craftsmanship informed forward-looking design, extending to leather bags inspired by bamboo-wrapped chimaki and the latest ISSEY MIYAKE FOOT collaboration with ASICS. The collection demonstrated how thoughtful material innovation can transform peaceful observation into contemporary fashion of exceptional beauty.

Jeanne Friot’s “HYSTERIA” Turns Performance into Protest

Presented as “HYSTERIA—Collection 9” at the Palais de Tokyo, Jeanne Friot staged one of Paris Men’s Fashion Week’s most emotionally charged presentations. Accompanied by an original score from Rebeka Warrior and striking beauty created alongside Charlie Le Mindu and Make Up For Ever, the show reclaimed the history of women dismissed as hysterical, drawing inspiration from figures including Niki de Saint Phalle, Yayoi Kusama, Marilyn Monroe, and poet Alda Merini. Models appeared as though escaping confinement, their progression from clinical white to deep black reinforcing the collection’s narrative of liberation.

Exaggerated trench coats, sculptural crinolines, latex feather embellishments, boxing references, and the house’s signature belts shifted between symbols of restriction and empowerment, while functional accessories underscored themes of movement and resistance. Balancing theatrical spectacle with highly considered construction, Jeanne Friot demonstrated fashion’s enduring ability to challenge historical narratives while celebrating resilience, individuality, and fearless self-expression.

Wales Bonner’s “Sun Poem” Reflects Quiet Confidence

Grace Wales Bonner titled her Spring/Summer 2027 collection “Sun Poem,” a fitting introduction to a presentation that played out with lyrical restraint. Beginning with portraiture and documentary photography, the designer explored the subtle gestures that shape personal identity, creating a wardrobe that shifted effortlessly between domestic intimacy and urban sophistication. Beautifully tailored navy suiting, supple leather bombers, striped shirting, richly textured knitwear, and softly structured outerwear reflected Wales Bonner’s continued dialogue between heritage and modernity.

Collaborations with Anderson & Sheppard reinforced the collection’s reverence for traditional craftsmanship, while nuanced fabric combinations and thoughtful proportions rewarded close observation. Accompanied by the words of South African poet Keorapetse Kgositsile, “Sun Poem” reached beyond fashion into a meditation on rhythm, memory, and self-expression. Softly assured, the collection reaffirmed Wales Bonner’s remarkable ability to transform rigorous cultural research into clothing that feels timeless, intimate, and beautifully contemporary.
