The force certainly was with Rodarte as they showed their fall/winter 2014-15 collection. The Mulleavy sisters chose to close their show with a series of gowns emblazoned with scenes from Star Wars, showing off Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, Yoda, and R2-D2. Funny, considering George Lucas was a front row guest a few seasons back.
The rest of the collection was inspired by the way Kate and Laura Mulleavy dressed as children in the 80s in California, which was evident in a red wool jersey turtleneck paired with caramel silk chiffon pleated pants, and a hand-knit sleeveless sweater embellished with a cluster of crocheted florettes, and a grown-up version of a sweat pant in the form of a wool jersey drawstring pant.

They must have also worn a lot of glitter as children because the pair put out a series of jewel-toned glitter coats with shearling collars, sparkly berets, and shawls. A number of ethereal pieces also strided out on the runway as delicate ocre silk chiffon, butterfly-sleeve dress sprinkled with Swarovski crystals, a blue silk chiffon gown, and a mustard silk chiffon jumpsuit. The striped lace and sequined gowns were also standouts.
The Mulleavys definitely know how to elevate an 80s childhood and a legendary, yet geeky sci-fi film into high fashion, and they pulled it off quite well.
