Where It Began

In 2003, the first drop of Murakami x Louis Vuitton shook the fashion industry. Pop culture idols like Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashion, and even Regina George proudly sported bags from the collection, gaining immense popularity. The house’s then creative director Marc Jacobs initiated the collaboration, desiring a playful and unique collection. Designs reworked the infamous Louis Vuitton monogram for the first time in history, altering the neutral colors to vivid pinks, blues, and greens. In 2015 the collection was pulled from stores, pushing the brands aestheics beyond its limits.
The Magic of Murakami

Known for his supreme colorful creativity, artist Takashi Murakami was born in the 1960s in Tokyo. He is praised for this highly rechkonizable art drawing from traditional japanese designs, sci-fi, anime, and playful kawaii characters. Murakami has worked with esteemed fashion brands like Uniqlo, Supreme, Vans, and Comme des Garcons, as well as musicans like Kanye West creating his 2007 album for “Graduation.” His success spans across generations and genres, becoming one of the most influential Japanese artists of our time. The second collection with Louis Vuitton brings an exciting sense of fashionable nostalgia, following the recent pop-up in London. The pop-up announced the re-editon collection with a monochromatic baby pink cafe, complete with plush flower cushions, and archival pieces on display.
