The Underground Modellounge x Microsoft: Where Pretty People Unwind

By Sola Agustsson

February 14, 2014

In between the chaotic NYFW schedule of castings and runway shows, models find refuge at the Modellounge X Microsoft, a chill and heavenly space in Union Square. Here, they receive free massages, snacks, shoes, and exercise classes. They even have Xbox competitions. There are also exclusive Q& A lectures with casting directors and designers for models to ask questions.

Sponsored by Microsoft among other brands, the Modellounge was the brainchild of Bernard Smith, whose longtime model girlfriend Joan Smalls complained about not having a space to relax in between appointments. He created the Modellounge in 2009.

Covertly hidden underneath a Coffee Shop, the lounge is a safe environment for female models that are signed to one of the top ten agencies. Computers and Skype stations are also available for them to keep in touch with loved ones.

Recently, the Modellouge X Microsoft also partnered with Lexus to provide its members with round-the-clock car service.
