This spring/summer 2025 couture collection opened with a powerful comic poem from Gaurav Gupta’s lifetime partner, Navkirat Sodhi. It told the story of their resilience in a near-fatal accident with fire, capturing their journey of bandages, scars, love, and rebirth. Featuring sculptural creations like the “Twin Flame” ensemble in ochre and classic Gupta midnight blue metal breastplates, the collection blends ethereal elements with high couture. Denim disrupted tradition, while Banarasi brocade wove in mantras of strength.

The collection concluded with a dazzling look of rebirth, symbolizing the life changing experience they overcame. Gupta said, “This collection is not just a showcase of couture for us, it is a deeply personal testament to the power of resilience, transformation, and the infinite light within all of us. Through the flames of adversity, we found not just survival, but a rebirth that redefines the boundaries of creation and love.”

Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s first haute couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier is a daring, passionate voyage on the high seas of fantasy and sensuality. Inspired by an eclectic band of star-crossed voyagers, lost to passion and chaos, this collection honored Gaultier’s unparalleled craftsmanship and visionary artistry. In a dream come true, de Saint Sernin used this opportunity to tell a story full of myth, lust and adventure. Through lace, tulle, corsets and structure de Saint Sernin created cursed characters from sailors lost in lust, to cupid adorned with golden wings. Standouts like Anne Bonny, with an oak double-faced cashmere opera cape and criss-cross halter, and The Captain, in a corsetted black satin de laine jacket with a galleon hat, embodied the powerful characters of de Saint Sernin’s story.

The spring/summer 2025 Giambattista Valli haute couture collection presented a masterful exploration of femininity, elegance, and intricate craftsmanship. The show included intricate attention to detail and luxurious fabric manipulation. The runway unfolded as a celebration of textures and color, with flowing silk chiffons, draped organza, and radiant lamé jacquards seamlessly transitioning from one sculptural look to another. Highlights included romantic kaftans and “pouf” skirts, elevated with opulent embroidery, crystal embellishments, and hand-pleated silks. The show’s ethereal atmosphere was amplified by a complex use of voluminous shapes, giant bows, and fluid silhouettes, making it a poetic homage to timeless beauty and couture craftsmanship.

Alessandro Michele Creates Drama, History, and Art for Valentino

Valentino’s haute couture show was a mesmerizing exploration of infinity, inspired by Umberto Eco’s reflections on the poetic power of the list. Each of the 48 dresses formed a living narrative, a convergence of art, emotion, and history. For his first couture foray with the house, Creative Director Alessandro Michele used a fusion of textures, colors, and references, every garment embodied a web of significance, from cinematic weaves to botanical fragments. The designs were endless, evolving stories pulling from characters like Harlequin, Pierrot, and even Victorian opera creating drama, humor with an underlying hint of darkness. Costume-like looks used wide exaggerated hips to giant skirts and iconic Valentino ruffles to draw from the brand’s history while pushing the modern limits of couture.
