Versace’s Royal References for SS18

By Eliza Jordan

June 21, 2017

The Versace spring/summer 2018 collection exudes passion and seduction. Pinstripes and pops of bold color have us dreaming up our summer calendar for outfit appearances alone. Seen royally sprinkled on a handful of worthy items are crowns—as statement iconography on hats, shoes, necklaces, jackets, and dresses.

In an array of sizes, bags also make quite the statement. Smaller handbags contrast wonderfully with oversized clutches that had larger-than-life wrist straps, and we see a new small pocket change pouch on the outside of a reflective and respectfully-sized clutch.

There’s a fresh attitude to this season. We’re seeing a new print, Cornice, on a tailored blazer, and Angelo, too, which appears on a quilted bomber. The iconic silk shirts are back, as well, but combined with utility shorts. Denim jackets are light-washed and spiced up with images of regal figures, as are some of the backpacks, tops, scarves, dresses, shoes, hats, and slouchy bags. Plus there’s parachute pants, leather trenches, and pale pink and baby blue shirts.

“This collection is like a homecoming,” said Donatella Versace. “It’s about the passions that define Versace, the complexity of men, the energy of today.”
