Whitewall’s fall 2013 Fashion Issue is now out in stores and available to download on the iPad. We have to say, this is really one of our best issues to date. We’re not sure how we were able to fit it all in—with superstars like Francesco Vezzoli, Yoshitomo Nara, Inez & Vinoodh, Wolfgang Tillmans, Ian Davenport, and Luc Tuymans.
Curator extraordinaire Neville Wakefield sat down with Vezzoli in New York earlier this spring to talk about the “holy trinity” of shows he has planned for this fall and winter at MoMA PS1, MAXXI in Rome, and LA MOCA. Later we talked to Nara about his new, larger-than-life sculptures cast in bronze that helped him get back to making art after the 2011 tsunami in Japan.

Right before the opening of their show at Gagosian in Beverly Hills, we spoke with photography super-duo Inez & Vinoodh about the haunting space their work occupies between art and fashion. We also got the spooks when we heard about exactly who “Mr. Sagawa” is, in the newest painting from Tuymans that will be auctioned off this October at TWO x TWO in Dallas (hint: it involves cannibalism). That work is featured in the complimentary art print that comes with each issue of Whitewall.
Fashion and art also collide in our Focus section, where we Reed Krakoff, Hermes’s Bali Barret, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Terron Schaefer, and Erdem Moralioğlu. The designer behind Erdem gushed to us about his passion for books, books, and more art books, and could barely contain his excitement for his new, oh-so-adult garage.
