To be brief, New York-based designer Yigal Azrouël’s Resort 2014 collection is full of spunky surprises that absolutely embody city chic. In both his main collection and the contemporary Cut25 by Yigal Azrouel, Azrouël sneaks in details that transform everyday pieces into something extraordinary.
Many of the pieces in the Azrouël collection are made from traditional materials, such as boucle, and are embellished with leather trimmings and exposed zippers that transform jackets from prim and proper to sporty and edgy. Furthermore, looks are accessorized with cashmere scarves featuring images of surfboards, blue lips, and shark-skateboards that go unnoticed until closer inspection.
Every season, Azrouël reinvents his signature leather jacket. This year he has added a light touch, replacing most of the leather with a beautiful black and white eyelet. Another standout is a black, floor length dress with a hand-beaded animal design detailed on the front, perfect for September’s Emmys.
Some of our favorites from the Cut25 by Yigal Azrouel collection are the knitted pullovers, whose colors range from black and grey to deep carmine. However, everything is wearable and modern, suited for any contemporary girl.
